Mitsubishi Lancer |
| Vehicle Overview |
Engineering Passion.
Every Mitsubishi is performance engineered to get your heart racing. But our passion for
performance is deeper than sheet metal – it’s in our blood, in our DNA. It can be felt in
every engine, exhaust note, suspension and transmission that goes into every car and SUV
we build. Whether you’re on a road trip with the windows down and the sound system up,
driving to the market or commuting, we believe getting behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi
vehicle should be the equivalent of being the only vehicle on the road. Because at Mitsubishi,
we strive not only to build the world’s most high-performance vehicles, but also provide an
exhilarating driving experience every time you turn the key. |

Live One Drive at a Time.
Life has never been so busy. For most of us, our car has become little more than a tool for completing a to-do list, with one turn behind the wheel looking just like the next. That's no way to drive.
The 2009 Lancer is designed to make each drive more of an event than an errand. Beneath its sleek exterior, a rigid body and sport-tuned suspension lend it remarkable agility. While inside, Lancer's many features and comforts will make your next drive feel more like this first one than the last one. So get behind the wheel of a new Lancer and rediscover what it's like to drive in the moment.

| Multitasking, To Go. |
Bluetooth®
You can't experience the full range of Lancer's capabilities when you're trying to talk on a mobile phone, so we gave it a Bluetooth®* hands-free cellular phone interface with voice recognition. After setting up a phone, you can place calls, answer them, and look up phone numbers and names without moving your hands from the steering wheel.
*The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are owned by the bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by Mitsubishi is under license. |

High-Contrast Meters
GTS has extras that lend style and functionality. Like these high-contrast meter faces. Bright blue illumination against a dark background keeps you informed in sporty fashion. |
 |
| |
| |
Fast-Key System
The available FAST-Key (Freehand Advanced Security Transmitter-Key) provides exceptionally easy access. When it's within less than a metre (2.5 feet), you can unlock the two front doors by simply gripping the handle or the trunk by pushing the button. The vehicle can also be started with the keys conveniently tucked away in a pocket or purse. |

| We're Quick To Put You At Ease. |
At first glance, Lancer’s sporty interior might appear to be
all business. Get in, however, and you’ll experience an upscale,
nearly noise-free driving environment. The fit and finish is
precise. Comfortable bucket seats, crafted with high-quality
sport cloth, are bolstered for performance driving and
available with 4-way adjustability. So, while it may look nothing
but fast, Lancer’s cabin is really a clinic in comfort. |
| |
SIRIUS® Satellite Radio
The available Rockford Fosgate® performance
audio system includes SIRIUS® Satellite
Radio* with six months of pre-paid service.
Featuring more than 130 channels of
programming, including 65 commercial-free
music channels, your listening experience
will be as satisfying as the drive itself.

Automatic Climate Control
Lancer GTS keeps the cabin comfortable with a standard automatic climate system. The temperature. Fan speed and air source are all adjusted automatically. All you have to do is drive. |
 |
| |
Rockford Fosgate® Audio System
The available Rockford Fosgate® performance sound sytem is not just powerful - it's refined. Nine speakers in seven locations (including a 10-inch long-throw PUNCH® subwoofer) are driven by 650 watts of power for deep bass and clear highs. |

| The Art Of Velocity. |
Internal combustion has been elevated to high art in the form of two
advanced aluminum block engines. These lightweight power plants -
the standard 2.0-liter and the newly available 2.4-liter - feature
the performance of Dual Overhead Cams (DOHC) and Mitsubishi
Innovative Valve-Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC). A 5-speed manual
transmission puts the power to good use, while our Continuously
Variable Transmission (CVT ) keeps the engine at peak efficiency levels
for smooth operation and optimum fuel economy. With such desirable
balance, you could say engineering imitates life. |
| |
2.4-Liter
Powerful, Yet Efficient
Lancer gives drivers the choice of a 152-horsepower 2.0-liter
engine or a new, 168-horsepower 2.4-liter engine (shown
below). GTS’ 2.4-liter engine isn’t just powerful – with a manual
transmission, it consumes only 10.1/7.1 l/100 kms City/Hwy while
the CVT consumes only 9.9/7.4 l/100 kms City/Hwy. |

|
| |
Rally-Inspired Paddle Shifters
Lightweight, racing-inspired magnesium paddle shifters on Lancer
GTS offer real hands-on performance, just like Lancer Evolution. In
Sportronic® mode, pull the right paddle to upshift the Continuously
Variable Transmission (CVT) and the left paddle to downshift. |
 |
| |
Continuously Variable Transmission With Invencs-III
Lancer’s computer-controlled CVT helps keep the engine running near
its optimum speed. The advanced INVECS-III control system even tailors
its response to your driving habits, so it can anticipate your next move.
That makes for a better driving experience – and a more efficient one. |

|
| |
A Heritage of Power
Lancer’s impressive performance is no
accident. For more than 30 years, it’s played
a prominent role in our proud motorsports
history. In fact, the Lancer Evolution has been
a perennial winner on the FIA World Rally
Championship racing circuit. |

|
| |
| Go Ahead, Play in The Street |
Get Lancer out onto the open road and you’ll soon have a mischievous
grin across your face. Its handling is nothing short of exhilarating.
The remarkable ride - level in the corners and stable at speed - is
the result of rigid unibody construction and MacPherson-strut, multilink
suspension. This method of construction also gives the Lancer
rugged durability. So play in the street as long as you like. |
| |
4-Wheel Independent Suspension
Lancer’s suspension was
developed with performance
handling in mind. Its front and
rear suspension systems are as
effective as they are high tech.
MacPherson struts up front and
independent links in back help
keep the wheels, and the vehicle,
going in the right direction. |

|
| |
Incredibly Stiff Chassis
Lancer has a stiff foundation, including a flat front subframe that does away
with body flex and keeps the relationship between the wheels and the road
precise. This gives Lancer impressive grip and keeps bumps and potholes out
of the passenger compartment. |

|
| |
Available 18-Inch Wheels
The standard 18-inch alloy wheels and performance tires supplied on Lancer
GTS give satisfying road stability, as well as impressive looks. |

| The Work We're Most Proud of, We Hope You Never See. |
Beneath the visible surfaces of every Mitsubishi lie, perhaps, our most vital engineering
achievements: Our safety systems. For impact protection, Lancer is built upon our Reinforced
Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) unibody. Adding further occupant protection is our comprehensive
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) featuring a total of 7 airbags.* Each safety measure we’ve
taken is, in itself, a marvel of engineering, but with luck, you’ll have to take our word for it. |
| |
Rise Body Protects From Within
Lancer’s safety design and tight handling come from Mitsubishi’s RISE unibody design. The RISE body utilizes high-tensile-strength steel in strategic locations to increase stiffness.
It also disperses energy loads during side and rear impacts. |

|
| |
Driver's Knee Airbag*
The 2008 Lancer was the first compact sedan to come equipped with a standard driver’s side knee airbag. In an accident, it helps prevent injury by cushioning the blow and stabilizing the legs and lower body of the driver. |

|
| |
IIHS Safety Rating
Excellent crash test performance proves that Lancer’s safety design isn’t just theoretical. In frontal offset crash testing conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) the 2008 Lancer
scored the highest possible overall rating - “Good”. |

|
*Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seat belt, sit upright in the middle of the seat, and do not lean against the door. Always place children 12 and under in the rear seat and use appropriate child restraints.Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat. See your Owner’s Manual and instructions provided with your child restraint for additional information.
