Driver, meet Tiguan. Tiguan, meet driver. |
| Did you know that the name Tiguan comes from "tiger" and
"iguana"? Or that Tiguan is our first compact SUV? Or that it comes
equipped with an Electronic Parking Brake? Or that its towing
capacity is a massive 998 kg? There may be a lot you don't know
about Tiguan. And that's okay. In the pages to come, you'll
get formally introduced. |

Distinctive German design
The new Tiguan is instantly
recognizable as the Touareg’s
little brother. A superb European
compact SUV for every day,
on-road or off. And with three trim
levels, it can be configured to the
driver’s individual preference.
Intelligent storage and space
The interior’s well-designed storage
options — including various clips,
cardholders and bins — give you
space for everything, so you can
retrieve important items quickly
and safely at any time. When
you really need lots of room, the
front passenger seat folds down
completely f lat, and the rear seats
fold forward and can be divided
60/40 for those awkward items.
Powerful and economical engine
The Tiguan comes with the 2.0L
TSI engine found in the GTI, which
delivers 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of
torque. Depending on trim level,
you can choose from a standard
6-speed manual transmission or
options such as a 6-speed automatic
Tiptronic® transmission, with or
without 4motion®. For you, this
means maximum performance
with outstanding fuel economy
made possible by Volkswagen's
TSI - direct injection technology.
Massive towing capacity
Tiguan’s towing capacity clocks in
at 998 kg. That’s more than a fullgrown
moose. Not that you’d want
to tow such a thing, naturally. But it
gives you an idea of what the Tiguan
is capable of. And if it doesn’t, we
invite you to find out for yourself.

| |
| Motion + Motion + Motion + Motion = 4Motion |
| |

|
The Tiguan has optional (on automatic models) 4motion to help
tame the toughest driving conditions. It's ready to spring into
action and adjust during hazardous road conditions. That's
because it constantly monitors the individual traction of each
wheel, and makes the necessary adjustments. If a tire slips,
4motion reduces power to the wheel. If a tire can accept more
torque, 4motion sends over a little extra muscle. For example, when
the Tiguan is driving straight ahead and there's no difference
in grip between the wheels, 90% of the power is sent to the
front axle and 10% to the rear. The only thing you'll notice is the
consistent all-wheel drive technology that always has your back. |
| |
| In order to know where you're going, you have to know where you are. |
| |

|
The Tiguan features a state-of-the-art navigation system*, your new best friend on the road. You can now get to the playground of your choice
without having to stop for directions. The system combines a sophisticated radio with precise touch screen navigation and easy-to-use map views on its 6.5-inch high-resolution wide screen display. A 30 GB hard drive can store map data (10 GB) and audio (20 GB) files entered via the optical drive or SD card slot. The optical drive can read CD, DVD and DV D Audio formats. And thanks to the Media Device Interface (MDI), the system can work with any MP3 player or USB stick.
Just so you know where you are in relation to hard-to-see objects behind you, a rear view camera* makes parking easier and safer.
*Optional with Technology Package on Comfortline and Highline.

| Dynaaudio and SIRIUS |
| |

|
The available Dynaudio®** sound system produces
the best sound qu ality of any compact SUV. Featuring
8 speakers, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and
300 watts of digital amplification, the system is
tailored specifically to the acoustics of the Tiguan's
interior, and delivers powerful sound for every
passenger, no matter where they're seated.
SIRIUS® Satellite Radio is the perfect way to enhance
your driving experience. With 110 channels to choose
from, including sports, news, talk, entertainment, and
100% commercial-free music, you'll always be tuned
in to what's new and happening.

| The soul of an SUV. The heart of a GTI |
| |

|
The Tiguan is outfitted with a torque-endowed engine — a newer version of our award-winning GTI engine, which was named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines three years in a row. It’s no wonder the Tiguan is the first-ever compact SUV that feels like a sports car. Now you know why we had to give it such a weird name. A 2.0L TSI engine makes the Tiguan ultra-efficient and powerful — that’s 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, to be more precise. The advanced TSI direct injection technology amazingly improves fuel economy, reduces emissions, and enhances responsiveness all at the same time. The straight
injection system pumps fuel directly into the combustion chamber. Less waste. Less lag
time. The “T” stands for Turbo. And we all know what that means. |

| Safety standards come standard |
| |

|
Every Volkswagen comes standard with lots of features that work in harmony to both help you avoid an accident and help protect you if an accident is unavoidable. And we are constantly updating it, because when it comes to safety, there's always room for improvement.
Dual Front and Dual Front Side Airbags*
Can deploy within milliseconds.
Side Curtain Protection®*
Deploy down the roof line from the A-pillar to the C-pillar to help reduce head
and upper torso injury in the event of side impact.
Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Engine Braking Assist (EBA)
Help improve handling and prevent skidding in slippery conditions.
Electromechanical Power Steering System
Your Tiguan’s steering has variable power steering, which means you’ll get a consistent
response no matter how fast (or slow) you’re driving. Also, since it doesn’t use
steering f luid, it’s a completely sustainable solution. We’re big fans of win-wins.
Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP)
Our most advanced traction control system ever helps the driver stay the course by
kicking in corrective forces when tires start slipping. ESP is most effective when the
driver is taking evasive action during sudden maneuvers, like when avoiding an accident.
Incidentally, ESP also stands for Extra Sensory Perception. Hardly a coincidence.
Auto Hold
Whether you’re going up or downhill, Auto Hold controls the hydraulic pressure to help prevent the vehicle from rolling forward or backward once
you come to a complete stop. Even if you take your foot off the brake.
Electronic Parking Brake
No need to pull levers and push pedals to set your parking brake. Just simply press the electronic brake button, and it will set itself. To get going press the button again while your foot is on the brake and it will release.
Fog Lights
Fog lights come standard. We thought it would be nice for you to see through the haze.
1Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident scenarios. Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear, using restraint systems appropriate for their size and age. |
| |
| Above and beyond the above and beyond. |
| |
 |
The Tiguan comes loaded with lots of features you
know you want, and a few you’ll want once you
find out they exist. Like rear seats that not only
fold down, but also slide forward or back to allow
more rear cargo room and rear passenger leg
room. The Tiguan even has an adjustable cooling
glove box to keep your favourite items chilled. |

| Accessories and options |
| |

 |
Panoramic Sunroof
This sliding sunroof is three times larger than
a conventional sunroof. It’s almost 1360 mm
long and 870 mm wide — an area of almost
1.2 square metres, which extends over a large
part of the interior. Obviously, that can let a lot
of sun in, so we threw in a power sunshade for
whenever you feel like blocking the rays a bit.
Barracuda™ Bike Holder
Durable and rugged, the easy-to-use arm
secures a bicycle, securely. Base carrier bars
can handle up to 3 Barracuda racks.
Ski/Snowboard Deluxe Rack
This easy-to-install rack holds 2 snowboards or 4 pairs of skis. |
| |
| A look that makes you look |
| |

|
Tiguan’s exterior will turn heads. It helps that alloy wheels and fog lights come standard, and that there are available Bi-Xenon® headlights with
Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). A sleek design and slightly off‑setting size makes you look twice, and then it transfixes your gaze. It’s like a
reverse Medusa story — you won’t turn to stone, but you’ll most likely get inside the Tiguan and go climb some or head for a distant shore. |
| |
| Possibly the most class in its class |
| |

|
We believe firmly that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. And that conviction extends beyond what’s under the hood. Inside the cabin of the Tiguan, you’ll find high-quality materials, with premium trims like baseball stitching and chrome finishing. In addition, the Tiguan is the first compact SUV to offer an optional 1.2 square metre panoramic sunroof, the largest ever offered in its class. |
| |
| Play. But play nice. |
| |

|
The Tiguan is the first compact SUV from Volkswagen. It zips around corners like a dream, and once you get inside the cabin, you’ll never forget the tingling feeling you get. Kind of like your first love. Wait, perhaps Tiguan is your first love? Conscientiously designed, the Tiguan is made with the belief that you only need as much SUV as you need. Just enough to get you and your stuff to the playground. Whether that playground is the neighbourhood park, or Banff National Park. Everything you need, nothing you don’t. Everyone on the playground will thank you. And if the playground itself could talk, it would thank you too. |
