Developed with Grammy®-winning engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner, this 8-speaker, 6-channel, 225-watt system delivers astonishing levels of rich 5.1 surround audio detail. Load the in-dash 6-disc changer and you can listen to your music in the format of your choice: CD, DVD-Audio, Dolby Pro Logic II®, DTS® , or MP3/WMA. In fact, insert a DVD-Audio disc and you'll experience playback at 500 times the audio resolution of conventional CDs.

The TL audio system features an integrated XM Satellite Radio that allows you to experience some of the best music the world has to offer, all from the comfort of the TL cabin. And it also boasts a digital media auxiliary input jack so you can bring your MP3 player along for the ride.

Of course, with the steering wheel-mounted audio controls, you get full access to this phenomenal multi-channel surround sound system without taking your hands off the wheel. All of which makes the TL as exhilarating to listen to as it is to drive.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)*

The TL’s already quiet ride is made even quieter with the advanced technology of the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system. Available on the Type-S model, this highly innovative system reduces unwanted street or exterior noise by countering the sound frequencies and cancelling the disturbance with an equivalent waveform emitted from the vehicle’s audio system. Further cabin silencing comes from noise-insulation components and materials found in the dash, floor, roof, and engine areas.

Available Voice-Activated Satellite-Linked Navigation*

With the TL's easy-to-use multi-function Acura Satellite-Linked Navigation System with bilingual Voice Recognition, you may never have to ask for directions again. To map your route, simply touch the voice-activation button on the steering wheel and speak your commands. Whether you're looking for the nearest ATM, restaurant or gas station, the TL's bilingual voice recognition software can recognize over 600 verbal commands. It also boasts a real-time moving map display and audio voice directions. The system uses Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, an onboard inertial-guidance system, and speed sensors to constantly calculate the TL's position. Simply ask the system to show you the most direct route to your destination or offer an alternate route. And with the Zagat Survey Ratings®, it can help you pick a premium restaurant.

HandsFreeLink™ and Bluetooth® - Enabled Technology

Stay connected while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. To add a further touch of technological wonder, the TL is equipped with HandsFreeLink, which utilizes Bluetooth technology to communicate with Bluetooth-enabled wireless devices, and voice recognition to respond to your commands. Just say the word and – providing your programmed mobile device is located inside the cabin – calling numbers will be displayed on the TL's Multi-Information Display. Touch a button on the steering wheel to answer. As if anticipating your needs, the audio system's volume lowers, and the caller's voice is heard through the TL's speakers. What's more, the system operates in English or French, and is capable of seamlessly integrating up to six different compatible wireless phones, turning your TL into a veritable hub of connectivity.

3.2-litre, 24-valve SOHC VTEC® V-6 engine

The TL's power plant offers a lengthy list of advanced features. Consider its 4-valve-per-cylinder design for optimal intake and exhaust flow, the latter of which is further enhanced by a high-flow exhaust system. Or the Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system that calculates the precise air-fuel mixture, and a direct ignition system that initiates a super-hot spark at just the right time. The engine's block and heads are forged in aluminum for lightweight efficiency, better heat dissipation and improved durability.

Once you get behind the wheel, you'll feel the benefits of its high-tech engineering when you command the TL's 258 horsepower and 233 lb.-ft. of torque. With 90% peak torque available all the way to the 6800 rpm redline you can count on virtually instant and endless acceleration. And even though the TL is an awesome performer, it's also a low emission vehicle with a Tier 2 Bin 5 rating, which gives you a clear conscience when it comes to the environment.

Transmission

5-Speed Automatic Transmission with Sequential SportShift®
The TL's advanced transmission gives you the power to choose between fully automatic or manual shift modes. In automatic mode, a shift-hold control program detects spirited driving and will hold the gear longer for enhanced engine response. Plus, the advanced Grade Logic Control System limits gear hunting whether you're going up or down hills, for a noticeably smoother drive.

Suspension

Taking a page from track-tested sport suspension geometry, the TL's 4-wheel independent front double-wishbone, rear multi-link suspension system uses a short upper arm for maximum grip as the system compresses in a turn. A high-placed lower arm helps create superb vehicle control with a stiffer steering feel. The rear suspension features a precision pillow joint for enhanced handling and stability. Further handling prowess comes from the oversized front and rear stabilizer bars for quick, flat cornering and a boost of exhilaration.

Varibale Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC®)

The VTEC engine utilizes two entirely different camshaft profiles to offer you amazingly responsive power across the complete rpm range. Off the line, the engine provides lower valve lift and a shorter cam profile opening, resulting in higher fuel velocities and greater low-end rpm torque. As your demand for engine speed increases, VTEC switches to a cam profile with higher valve lift and longer opening duration, resulting in greater airflow and a bigger boost of high-end rpm horsepower. So no matter how hard you push the pedal, you'll always have an immediate rush of power.

Drive-by-Wire Throttle System

For smooth, lightning-quick response to your acceleration demands, the TL's throttle is controlled by the advanced electronic control unit (ECU) system. Processing data from various sensors in the engine and around the chassis, the ECU opens the throttle according to your driving conditions. At low or steady speeds, the throttle is gradual, to ensure smooth engine response. And when you want instant acceleration, horsepower is more immediate, resulting in an incredibly controlled, stable, high-performance drive.

Power-Adjustable Heated Front Seats

Even the longest drives seem shorter when you're sitting comfortably in one of the two tightly bolstered, perforated leather-trimmed, heated front seats. Plus, with an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat with power-adjustable lumbar support and 2-position programmable memory, the ideal driving position is yours at the touch of a button. What's more, front passengers will enjoy a 4-way power adjustable seat of their own.

Dual-Zone Climate Control System

The TL's advanced dual-zone, dual-mode climate control system lets you maintain an automatic temperature level in two different zones inside the cabin. The dual-mode part of the climate equation enables you to set two different vent levels for these two zones. For the ultimate temperature control, the Acura TL Navigation Package features dual-zone and dual-mode voice-activated climate control of the cabin and zone temperature. And if direct sunlight is warming the driver, but not the passenger, the onboard GPS-linked, solar-sensing feature will communicate with the TL's automatic climate control system to adjust the driver's temperature settings automatically.

Leather Seating

To complement its smooth ride, every comfortable, supportive seat is upholstered in soft, durable, hand-selected leather. And to help maintain its quality over the long haul, it's perforated for ventilation.

Cabin Storage

With the TL, luxury thrives in the details. At first glance, you'll notice hand-selected, perforated leather and expertly beveled audio knobs. But there's more at work underneath, with tight door seams that close with a solid thud and LED backlit gauges that illuminate progressively for easy reading in varying light conditions. And to reduce driver fatigue, the floor-hinged accelerator pedal follows the natural motion of your foot and ankle.

Airbags

Maximum safety is achieved with six airbags designed to protect all occupants inside the TL. Depending on the point and force of impact, the TL will deploy: dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags that activate at one of two rates depending on severity of the impact; front side airbags with the innovative passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System that will not release if the system detects a small-sized or improperly positioned passenger; and side curtain airbags with state-of-the-art rollover sensors. All of which means that wherever you go in your TL, you'll feel safe and secure.

Braking System

The TL offers an advanced braking system to help you drive safely. Its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps maintain steering control for braking quickly on wet, slippery or loose surfaces, while Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) balances braking forces at each wheel to help compensate for passenger weight distribution inside the cabin. Plus, when the Brake Assist feature senses a panic stop, it applies maximum braking power to help you stop quickly.

Stability and Traction

The advanced Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) system with Traction Control automatically detects and corrects understeer or oversteer situations, sometimes before you're even aware there's a need. The system intuitively analyzes the conditions and then reduces throttle and/or applies braking to individual wheels. Should a loss of traction occur during acceleration on slippery surfaces, Traction Control compensates by adjusting the amount of power put on the ground to help the tires retain traction control.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Correct tire pressure is critical to safety, performance and fuel efficiency. That's why Acura created the TL's innovative Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It continually monitors the air pressure in each tire. So if pressure drops in any tire, a transponder attached to the wheel's valve stem transmits the information to a receiver and a warning appears on your instrument panel, indicating which tire requires attention.

Maintenance Minder System
Instead of following a traditional kilometre-and-calendar maintenance schedule, the TL instinctively calculates service needs based on how the vehicle is driven, not just how long. This advanced system takes into account engine revolutions, stop-and-go traffic experience, weather extremes and the frequency of short trips to determine when your next service visit should be. The system also helps coordinate oil servicing dates and other maintenance items to minimize your visits to the service department.

Rearview Camera

Available with the TL Navigation Package and TL Type-S, the rearview camera shows a colour image on the navigation-system screen of the area directly behind the vehicle to ensure safer line of sight when reversing. For added safety, the camera is activated automatically when you engage reverse, even if the navigation system is turned off.

Rigid Safety Cell

In the event of a collision, the TL's energy-absorbing front and rear crumple zones help absorb impact energy and direct collision force around, and away from, the passenger cabin. The rigid safety cell uses high-tensile steel in stressed areas. And energy-absorbing steel side-impact door beams provide an additional measure of occupant protection.
