Keep in touch without ever having to lift a finger. Program and link your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to the MDX's HandsFreeLink telephone interface to make, receive and transfer calls without interruption or having to remove your hands from the steering wheel. Just push a button on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Then say the word and – providing your programmed phone is located inside the MDX cabin – calling numbers will be displayed, your phone will respond to voice activation, and you'll hear the caller's voice over the MDX's audio system. What's more, the system operates in English or French and is capable of seamlessly integrating up to six different compatible phones, turning your MDX into a veritable hub of connectivity.

Acura Navigation System with Bilingual Voice Recognition™*

Introducing next-generation convenience. Acura DVD Rear Entertainment System*

Now playing in the MDX Elite Package is the Acura DVD Rear Entertainment System. Featuring a 9-inch LCD colour display, integrated remote control, and wireless headsets with personal surround sound, passengers can pass the time watching movies or listening to their favourite CDs. Plus, an auxiliary second row Audio/Video input jack offers plug-and-play video game capabilities.

Automatic Humidity Control

Another technologically advanced feature on the MDX is the Automatic Humidity Control system. Using electronic sensors to measure humidity based on cabin conditions, the MDX compensates before window fogging even occurs. Before you even realize it, the system automatically activating the heat/defrost mode, adjusting the fan settings and turning the air conditioning on or off – intelligent technology that advances your comfort.

Active Damper System

The MDX's innovative Active Damper System is a race-inspired suspension system. Available with the MDX Elite Package, the Active Damper System complements the vehicle's fully independent suspension providing you with a superior feel for the road and an extra boost of driving confidence demanded from an SUV, and the exhilaration you expect from an Acura. Designed to improve overall response and stability, the system changes the suspension damper fluid viscosity in a fraction of a second based on driving conditions. The result is an increased damping firmness in each wheel, a decrease in body roll and vehicle pitch, and an exceedingly responsive, sportier ride.

In the case of the incredibly powerful MDX, it's a 3.7L, 24-valve V-6 engine with 300 hp at 6000 rpm and 275 lb.-ft of purposeful torque at 5000 rpm. Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC)

The VTEC engine utilizes two entirely different camshaft profiles to offer you amazingly responsive power across the complete rpm range. Off the line, the engine provides lower valve lift and a shorter cam profile opening, resulting in higher fuel velocities and greater low-end rpm torque. As your demand for engine speed increases, VTEC switches to a cam profile with higher valve lift and longer opening duration, resulting in greater airflow and a bigger boost of high-end rpm horsepower. Airbags

Maximum safety is achieved with six airbags designed to protect all occupants inside the all-new MDX. Depending on the point and force of impact, the MDX will deploy: dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags that activate at one of two rates depending on severity of the impact; front side airbags with the innovative passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System that will not release if the system detects a small-sized or improperly positioned passenger; and side curtain airbags with state-of-the-art rollover sensors. Plus, for the driver and passenger, Active Head Restraints provide excellent neck protection in case of rear impact. All of which means that wherever you go in your MDX, you'll feel safe and secure.

Braking System

The MDX offers an advanced braking system to help you drive safely. Its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps maintain steering control when braking hard on wet, slippery, or loose surfaces, while Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) balances braking forces at each wheel to help compensate for passengers and the weight distribution inside the cabin. Plus, there's a Brake Assist feature that senses a panic stop and applies maximum braking power to help you stop quickly.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Correct tire pressure is critical to safety, performance, and fuel efficiency. Enter the MDX's innovative Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that continually monitors the air pressure in each tire. If pressure drops in any tire, a transponder attached to the wheel's valve stem transmits the information to a receiver and a warning appears on your instrument panel indicating which tire requires attention.

Maintenance Minder System

Instead of following a traditional kilometer-and-calendar maintenance schedule, the MDX instinctively calculates service needs based on your driving habits. This advanced system takes into account engine revolutions, stop-and-go traffic experience, weather conditions and the frequency of short trips to determine when your next service visit should be. What's more, the system also anticipates oil and filter changes, tire rotations and other general maintenance.

Stability and Traction

The advanced cooperative Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) system with Traction Control will automatically detect and correct understeer or oversteer situations, sometimes before you're even aware there's a need. The system intuitively analyzes the conditions, and then reduces throttle and/or applies braking to individual wheels. Should a loss of traction occur during acceleration on slippery surfaces, Traction Control will compensate to get you safely underway.

Rearview Camera*

The MDX's available rearview camera shows a colour image on the navigation-system screen of the area directly behind the vehicle. Even if the navigation system is turned off, the camera is activated automatically when you engage reverse, giving you a clear picture of what is behind you.

Light Emitting Diode (LED) Taillights

From dawn to dusk, LED taillights offer a brighter, safer way to let other drivers know you're braking, turning or passing. LED lights are extremely bright, long-lasting and are easier for other drivers to see at a distance, regardless of the outdoor or ambient lighting conditions.
